Welcome to Barbados Ball Canada Aid (BBCA)
About Us
Incorporated on March 24, 2004, Barbados Ball Canada Aid (BBCA) was formed as a result of an initiative by Kay McConney, then Consul General of Barbados at Toronto, to bring together Barbadian associations in Ontario to create a charitable organization that would benefit the Barbadian community.
BBCA is a non-profit organization that supports charitable causes in the interest of Barbadians in Canada and Barbados, with a focus on education and healthcare. We are not a registered charity however our fundraising activities are all solely for charitable purposes.
The membership of Barbados Ball Canada Aid consists of Barbadian – Canadian associations, Barbadians residing in Canada and friends of Barbados who share a commitment to the island.
Our Purpose
In concert with BBCA's registered objects our purpose is:
● To provide annual scholarships to youth of Barbadian heritage attending recognized universities or
colleges in Canada; and
● To provide financial assistance to organizations that deliver healthcare programs or services for the benefit
of Barbadians in Canada or Barbados.
Our Mission
To support initiatives in healthcare and the education of our youth, in Canada and Barbados; and to enhance in Canada the awareness and understanding of Barbados, its people, history, culture and traditions.
Our Values
● Teamwork: We work as a team in striving to achieve our organization's mission and goals.
● Respect: We respect each other, our partners, our benefactors and all the many individuals and
corporations whose support makes it possible to execute our mission.
● Integrity: We act with integrity, fairness and honesty at all times. We are at all times professional and
non-partisan and we encourage open dialogue and constructive criticism within an
environment of trust and ethical behaviour.
● Loyalty: We are loyal to our organization, Canada and Barbados and we endeavour to be a credit to
Canada and Barbados in whatever we do.
Our Activities
● We host the annual Barbados Ball.
