Errol Walton Barrow Award

The Errol Walton Barrow Award is named after the “Father of Independence” and first prime minister of Barbados, the Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow – one of Barbados’ national heroes (Click here to read about the Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow and other Barbados national heroes). This award recognizes outstanding Barbadians residing in Canada for professional acclaim and/or community service. 

The Errol Walton Barrow Award is a symbol of the pride of all Barbadians in the outstanding Barbadian models of success to whom it is presented. We believe that this award will have a positive impact on our youth and the Barbadian community’s esteem. Each recipient of The Errol Walton Barrow Award receives a beautiful crystal trophy and is celebrated at the Annual Barbados Charity Ball. 

The criteria and selection process for The Errol Walton Barrow Award are:

Criteria
o        Barbadian descent (a citizen of Barbados by birth or naturalization, or a person whose parents (one or both) are/were a citizen of Barbados; or grandparents are/were citizens of Barbados)
o        Resident in Canada
o        Professional excellence
o        Recognized community service
o        Improved the lives of others
o        Inspires others by being a role model 

Selection Process
o        The Award Selection Committee is comprised of two members of the board of directors
o        The award recipient is selected from a list of potential awardees compiled from public records and recommendations by board members, member associations and others
o        The selection is approved by the board of directors
