Barbados Charity Ball
The first Barbados Charity Ball held on June 5th 2004, was an outstanding success. This annual gala is organized by a committee consisting of representatives of the member organizations and individual members of Barbados Ball Canada Aid, assisted by the Barbados Country Team (members of the Barbados High Commission, Barbados Consulate at Toronto, Barbados Tourism Authority and Invest Barbados). The Barbados Charity Ball is the main fundraising event of Barbados Ball Canada Aid.
Held under the patronage of the High Commissioner of Barbados to Canada, His Excellency E. Evelyn Greaves, the Barbados Charity Ball is attended by over 500 guests annually, including many Canadians with close ties to Barbados. The Ball showcases Barbados, recognizes outstanding Barbadians in Canada and helps to strengthen the cultural and economic bonds between Barbados and Canada.

8th Annual Barbados Charity Ball: "Discover the Pleasures of Barbados"
On Saturday June 11th, 2011 patrons of the Barbados Charity Ball enjoyed a memorable evening of Bajan hospitality at this annual fundraising event, held at the Toronto Congress Centre. The Rum Punch Reception got the evening off to a spirited start, with Roger Gibbs and his Tuk Ensemble, the Stiltman and Joan Marshall-Wilkinson as the 'Nutseller' treating guests to a sampling of traditional Bajan folk culture.
With its decor incorporating the blue and gold colours of the Barbados flag, elegant and colourful floral centrepieces, and images of Barbados streaming on the video screens, the ballroom was attractive and pleasing to the eye; with an ambiance that radiated the tropical pleasures of the island.
Opening the formal part of the evening, the Dance Caribe Performing Company delivered a scintillating performance that was the perfect aperitif for the highly anticipated dinner; their vibrant costumes and Caribbean dance pieces setting the tone for an event that promised "good food, good entertainment and good company".
The four-course dinner exceeded all expectations and treated guests to a Bajan culinary experience that was the highlight of the Ball. Created by international Barbadian Chef Peter Edey and Chef Buehner of the Toronto Congress Centre, the menu included Bajan Flying Fish and Cou-Cou, a main course of Braised Beef with Bajan Herbs and Aromatic Vegetables, Stuffed Baked Breast of Chicken served on Long Grain Rice and Peas; and dessert of Fresh Churned Mango Sorbet with Rich Homemade Fruit Cake on Sugar Cane Brandy Sauce. Jazz renditions by Eddie Bullen and Marisa Lindsay complemented the meal.
Hosts Bob Farrow of Media Sponsor, WAVE 94.7 FM and Kevin Carrington of CP24 managed the proceedings with easy style and the presentation of the Barbados Charity Ball Award and scholarship grants afforded Barbadians the opportunity to express their pride in the accomplishments of an outstanding Barbadian and in the promise of our youth.
Revellers from The Spirits of the Caribbean, the first Barbadian mas band to participate in the Toronto Caribbean Festival, made an appearance that created a buzz of excitement in the room and prompted guests to "Feel the Spirit of Crop Over" to come at the 2012 Ball. Entertained Susan G with Neu Jenarashun 500 energized and satisfied guests danced the night away, capping off another successful fundraising event and an event that most returning patrons have now said was "the best Ball to date".
